Best art selling website: Zazzle, CafePress, ArtistRising or ImageKind?

I’d like to sell my original artwork online.. and these websites will allow me to make prints & deliver them to customers. I prefer a free option (where they only charge me if I make a sale).. but which of these is best – considering the website features, exposure and pricing?

I do sell on zazzle. I have shops on cafepress too but I do not take care about them anymore. Zazzle turned out to be much more profitable for me than cafepress.

The best considering website features, exposure and pricing is definitely zazzle. Let me tell you why.

1. Zazzle offers a free storefront for your products with the submission of unlimited products.
Cafepress on the other has a free storefront too as well as a paid solution. The free storefront called basic store allows you only one item in your store per product. Meaning if you have 2 designs for example you can put only one of them on a black t-shirt. You can put the other design on another t-shirt but not on the black one anymore because you can’t just have one per store.
The paid solution called premium store allows you unlimited products for a monthly fee. If I remember right its $4.95/month if you pay a year up front.

2. Zazzle’s design tool is far more easy to handle, but in the beginning it needs a bit of learning how things work though. The design tool includes a text tool option, where you can add text to your art direct on zazzle and the customer can customize this text if necessary and if you allow it.
Cafepress design tool is not as advanced and it has no text tool option. Here you’ll have to add text with a graphic program like photoshop or gimp. The customer cannot customize this text.

3. Exposure. I would say both are pretty equal in this area. Zazzle has more traffic these days though. They offer you products on their marketplace and in your storefront. Ranking of your products depends on views, ratings, comments and of course sales. But if you promote your products via facebook, twitter or your own blog for example it will be no problem.

If you sell your art, zazzle will get you more money on one sale than cafepress. Most sales come from their marketplaces. At zazzle you can earn as much as you mark up. Meaning if you mark up 25% you’ll get 25% for a sale. Marketplace or store doesn’t matter. At cafepress a marketplace sell earns you only 10% from the sales price. Even though you have marked up higher. The higher markup counts only for store sales.

Communities in both sites can be very helpful. Zazzles community seems to be a little more active.
