Got any new activity/recreation ideas for low-functioning dementia residents?

It seems the catalogs never offer anything new. For instance, they don’t seem to feature any new karaoke CDs, just the same ones. I just really need some new ideas. Many of the kids games and other stuff that’s available can’t be used because the resident’s may try to eat the small pieces or else it’s too childish. They often need a lot of help with art projects and that’s hard if you are doing a large group activity.

hmmm. it would need to be something simple, short term memory friendly, and safe…. flash card stories, with pictures and velcrow boards. ummm. pictionary. (you drwing the pictures and them guessing if they can’t function enough) game of memory (to perhaps excersize their minds) on a big board that all can see with equally large cards and easy entertaining pictures. sorry, if this is too basic but i dont know how low functioning you mean when you say low functioning. hope i helped
