Art Album

How can I get my album art from my CDs to show up on my iPod?

Ok, so I recently got my first ipod for Christmas and unlike everyone else my age, I’m completely illiterate about it. I purchased some songs from iTunes and downloaded some of my CDs. The album art from my CDs don’t show up, but the ones that I bought did. Is there any way to fix it?

There are a few things you can do. First thing to try is going to the Advanced menu in iTunes and clicking Get Album Artwork. This will scan your entire iTunes library and attempt to retrieve album artwork for all the albums that don’t have it.

If for some reason it can’t match up the album with one of the albums it has artwork for you can manually add it in yourself. If the title of the album or the band name etc don’t match up with what iTunes expects it won’t be able to recognize the album. To add album artwork in yourself what you need to do is find the image you want to display – running searches on Amazon.com usually will generate the images you need. Right click on the image and select copy. Then in iTunes right click on the album or song you want to add the artwork to. Select Get Info. There should be a box labeled artwork where you can right click again and click paste to add the image or else go to the Artwork tab and do the same.

If the images you add in will not save you may have an issue with the file type. iTunes will only save album artwork for tracks that are in it’s file format. If you are having trouble getting artwork to save, right click on the song/album and look at the bottom of the window that comes up. It should list the exact location where the file is saved, what you want to look at is the very end where it should say .m4a. If it says .wma or some other file type you will need to somehow convert the file type to .m4a. There are conversion programs available on the internet or else you can just burn all of the songs to CDs, then delete all of the tracks from iTunes, and then rip all of the songs off of the CDs back into iTunes. When iTunes rips a song off of a CD it will automatically save them in the correct file format.
