Do You Read Artists’ Magazines? If So Which Ones And Why?

There are two I buy each month myself. Art In America’ and ‘Connaissance des Arts.’ “Des Arts’ is a French publication and I really can’t read French. But they’ve got copies of are current art. There are also sever underground or outsider magazines, like ‘Art Lies’ and ‘Beautiful Decay’ I read from time to time. It’s nice to see what other artists are doing.

Are there any you would recommend (besides ART NEWS)?

Do these magazines influence you or your art? Is there any current artist (besides yourself, of course) you’re really fond of?
I don’t like ART NEWS because it always seems to focus only on abstract art, leaving out the rest.
John C, covering old masters and fake copies of old masters is not the same thing as profiling new artists. When they do profile new artists they always seem to only champion the abstract artists out there, excluding the neo-realists, the figurative artists and the Western and Southwestern Taos-school.

I buy Sculpture mag. a lot, I am always looking for new concepts in sculpture. I also buy writers digest. I know this is not the media you had in mind, but sometimes I can actually get concepts for paintings from the sculpture mag. also. Besides, I’m looking for a kiln. Also, good poetry can paint a picture in my mind sparking new ideas.
Blessings!
