Renaissance German Albrecht Dürer (May 1471-April 1528) was a talented artist. He was a painter, engraver, engraver and theoretician. In 1514, he created one of its most the incredible engravings "Melancholia I (Sensitivity).
Measuring 31a cm-26 cm (12 "A-10"), "Melancholy I "is an enigmatic composition and is considered a masterpiece of all time. Albrecht Durer created the color gray, which supports the serious mood etching. A disturbing winged woman sits in the center of the image. His head rests on his left hand while grab a splitter at the other. She has a serious expression on his face and is disappointed, as though resigned in defeat. She is surrounded by a disruption of geometric and architectural tools (like a sphere, scale, nails, saw, hammer), which may indicate that someone of his intellect and participate in the creative arts. She wears a wreath on his head. A set of keys and a bag are hanging in a jumble of her waist. A dog is sleeping on the floor beside her. On the wall behind it, we see a magic square, a clock sand, a scale and a bell. The date of 1514 can be found in the bottom two cells of the magic square. There is an angel asleep on a wheel, which rests on the wall adjacent. A large stone staircase and an indefinable way, are also placed near him. At bottom left, there is a comet shining right under a rainbow. Also We can see a chimera carrying a banner with the title "Melancholia I" written on it. It is impossible to find a clear relationship of cooperation between all scattered elements in print, although judging by some of them might say that the impression may have been inspired by alchemy.
There is controversy light on the "I" in the title. Some art teachers believe that the "I" was left by a Roman numeral and Dürer's intention to make a series of the four temperaments melancholic and phlegmatic, choleric and sanguine. However, the German humanist writer Cornelius Agrippa, suggested that the "I" really meant imaginative (which means the imagination).
"Melancholia I" is an allegorical representation of the melancholy state of mind. Dürer nice emphasizes physical effects such as temporary inability to move and a lost expression that often comes with a melancholy mood. "Melancholy I "has many philosophical interpretations, but it is difficult to find a definitive analysis of the engraving. It may have been based on the popular belief that artists Renaissance are melancholy. Some art critics believe "Melancholia I", was an extension of Durer himself. He represented the frustration Artist in not being able to decipher the secrets of nature. It is a paradox that this image of a woman really does not stand out as an artist Albrecht Dürer brilliantly clever. Contributions Dürer's innovative for the world of art inspire artists today.
