Is it better to take fashion or fine arts?

I am planning to go into the fashion industry but what I know is that fine arts qualification can also go into fashion right? because it can help me with my designs to make it more unique and different?

This probably won’t help much, but I once heard a joke:
What does a fine arts major say at work? …….Do you want fries with that?

I was a fine arts major.

Take fine arts classes, but concentrate on the fashion classes, you’d be more likely to find work.

Not advice I’d have given two years ago.
