Level Art Project – Can you give me some advice as to what the artists would be good to research?

Basically one of my projects is on 'Women in Art "and I'm looking for women in different ways they are portrayed in the artwork itself as well as looking at the work of an artist few women. Are there artists who can suggest that particularly look at women in his paintings / sculptures / etc. Or maybe just a particular piece of art of a woman it is interesting to talk about? The other project I'm doing I'm not entirely sure about what exactly yet, but I was thinking of something to do with colors contrasting / etc light and dark tones Basically because I love the illustrations that have a sense of mystery with a kind of gloss on the bottom or something, if its the glow of a lamp or a flash of light behind a random figure. Does anyone know of any artists who do this kind of thing? Or maybe the artists just brilliant contrast with muted colors? All links to particular art, would be great, thanks:)

For historical descriptions of women, I'd like to see Rubens, fleshy women who painted, and Botticelli, representing women in a striking and fluid. As the Chelsea, Caravaggio was the master of contrasting tones and dark – a technique known as chiaroscuro – but not many women in their work. For representations of the female nude reclinig (a popular topic), try the "Venus Mirror "by Diego Velazquez, Goya 2" Maja "portraits – the same woman dressed and naked -" Manet's Olympia, and Michelangelo figure of "Dawn" I think a man with two grapefruit halves stuck on the chest (take a look at the thighs). Helen Chadwick is interesting because copy your own body as part of a piece called "Of mutability, which is beautiful and strange. Lucian Freud is very interesting for the way in which meat paintings, particularly those agencies that are not normally considered "Beautiful" and Jenny Saville is also very interesting for this – he has painted many large women. He has also painted a woman with male genitalia, questioning gender roles. The Pre-Raphaelites, for instance, Dante Gabriel Rossetti's idealized painting beautiful pictures but instead dropped the "right" type and the Maiden. A very modern British female sculpture is to Alison Lapper, Marc Quinn, who was in the 'fourth plinth in Trafalgar Square. Picasso paintings of women are interesting for its violence and anger – particularly one painted by his wife just before they split, which is quite disturbing. You may also want to look to Duchamp Nude Descending a Staircase "for a very abstract view of the female form. Hope this helps:)
