Art Week

Art in children encourages them to develop the creative side of his brain. Many students as they progress through primary school stop drawing for a variety of reasons. Maybe they think their image is not as good as the student next to them, but mostly it's because they are in drought, an "idea". They just need a little help come up with the initial idea and then the mind can take off.
One way I found to cure this "drought of ideas" was to create an "art START". Using my computer I selected a piece of clip art and then put a title on the page, such as: The little picture of a castle in the corner and then the title of my castle, or the small image of a pumpkin and titled "My Jack-O-Lantern". Enough to give the child and the idea then developed and built on that idea.
I have designed a portfolio of ideas for me to pull a fast on a busy Monday morning. We took about 5 minutes and spoke on the theme and ideas of what would be appropriate in that particular frame. The students received all week to develop and expand their idea into their free time. Some are so enthusiastic that he took his home and worked especially hard for them even though they rarely took home the task.
Students were encouraged to use the document as a canvas of an artist. They went to cover the entire page and must be sufficiently proud of his work to sign on the front. The use Color is encouraged
The fun came when it was completed by the end of the week. I have designed a title page for each home and storied art that to use it from year to year. Then I drilled three holes around and inserted them into a large notebook. The binding was set at the back of the room on a table, where frequent visitors to the class or sitting in the parent-teacher conferences was placed in the room where the parents who were hoping to navigate through the book. Outsiders loved the book, but the students loved him more and more time available to browse through the book that every art has other ideas. You hear comments like: "That's a good idea," "never thought of it that way," "look at all the detail." Each week we added to the book and was always full of fresh ideas.
The only problem was the time element. It took long time to get to ideas so if you can find them already made for you worth your time.
