Big Art
What would you do if you had serious art talent, but not a big friend network at all, and wanted to be found?
What would you do in order for you to be “discovered”? What are the steps that you would take? You have a great art talent and can draw just about anything, except that no one knows you.
I’ve been working professionally for over 25 years and have reached a few conclusions. No one has to be a “starving artist” I believe that to be a choice if you have even a modicum of talent. I personally wouldn’t focus on being “discovered” either – focus on your work, put it in front of as many people as you can and trust in yourself and the process. You should start networking and approaching as many galleries and dealers as you can. I found the west coast was a much easier market to break into. When I lived there I couldn’t keep up with the demand and I was fresh out of college. Don’t be afraid to tale a “real job” if it is even remotely related to the arts. You’ll meet other creative types. I met a gallery owner who bought a lot of my work while I was working in a small studio cranking out site specific work – you know schlock that matches the furniture, Perseverance is the key as much as talent. Good luck..
