Art schools in Canada or New York?

Does anyone know of any good universities/colleges in Canada or New York that have strong art programs but are not specifically art schools? I’m looking to major in graphic design and I’d like about a medium or small sized school. Thanks!

I’m less familiar with Canada. I can tell you about NY, though. There are some fabulous art programs at broad universities/colleges in NY, including those at:
- Pratt Institute. Pratt has a great art program, and it also offers some other majors, but not a huge number. But still, it might be a fit.
- Syracuse U
- Rochester Institute of Technology
- Bard College
- Rutgers, New Brunswick. Now Rutgers is actually in NJ, not in NY state, but it’s in the metro NYC region, so it may work.
- Cornell
- NYU

I don’t know how big you mean when you say “medium sized”, so I’ve included some unis that may be, to you, large, as well as some places that are actually quite small. You can check each one to see if you think it’s a fit. I’m also not sure which of these offer graphic design as a speicific major, but you can check that as well. Some of them may only offer an art major, but you can focus it on graphic design. And if you do that, plus do an internship in the field, you’ll be fine. Not an issue.
