City Arts

How can I spark the arts in my city?

It seems like not much goes on in my city. There are not a ton of musical performances, but many musical performers.

We have a lovely downtown area and a park that seems perfect for some shows. I’m very interested in organizing a once-a-week gathering with local performers.

It could be fun, and would also attract people to downtown businesses.

Who do I go to for permission? Who do I suggest this to? Does it matter when during the week this happens? I was thinking Friday or Saturday night.

For your first question I would go to the mayor, a leader in the art of musical performance, the head of the park or just a trusty adult that cares what you think and want.

I think you should get some of your friends involved and get it spreading so that the older adults will take it more seriously than if it were just you and him.

I would do it either Saturday or Sunday. Saturday because people might wanna do something but they don’t wanna be the first to ask someone…

I wouldn’t do it Friday because maybe some people are doing something and they don’t wanna miss it (hot date, etc..)
