What does “Dance” share in common with other arts?

What does “Dance” share in common with other arts?

In primitive societies, dances or visual images possibly may be used to “drum” up courage for hunts or battles. Cave drawings also may or may not fulfill this function. This view has been modified throughout the years. Some dances attempt to invoke a mystical power of an object from the totem and taboo. The qualities of the feared object are worshiped and hopefully internalized.

Art may be used to express a feeling or feelings. Expression as well as other things mentioned above is a key element. Dancing as well as other arts is a form of expression or communication. From super-realism to surrealism, modern dance, to literature or even web art, feelings or ideas are hopefully invoked and communicated. Whether a feeling is a rational idea experienced from dancing or the viewing of persons dancing, communication is achieved, Art is grounded in experience and the exchange of feelings or ideas.

Sometimes artists strive to perform an artistic rendition that is devoid of feeling. These artists as in all of the fields of artistic expression communicate a message.
Communication and expression again are the key elements or common thread of all arts. All of these ideas expressed here are true of dancing. Keep this in mind if you dance for recreation. While dancing, You express and communicate much about how you feel and think about yourself and the world around you.
