Future Arts Research
What do you think about the future of photography?
It used to be, and still can be in many places, a piece of art; photography that is. You could spend hours outside trying to capture the perfect sunset picture, and spend even longer hours in the darkroom. Now, you can buy a 150 dollar camera, take one picture of a lake, or a sunset, and it can be considered “art.” and you will be considered a photographer. What is the future of photography? What could it possibly turn in to? Can we bring the true art back around?
PS. this is for my research paper for AP english. please answer. you may give your honest opinion, and make it good
For your paper in AP English, (highschool if I’m not mistaken), I would suggest that you don’t get into defining art. I am a first year drawing and painting student at the Ontario College of Art and Design (Toronto) and often times we look at contemporary photographs, drawings, paintings, sculptures, installations, and performance pieces and in all honesty, you can’t define art in a simple manor. There are many things that are considered art. A snapshot is art, a photograph that involves the photographer to pick up the camera and click the shutter release is considered art.
The future of photography isn’t necessarily digital. Although Polaroid has stopped making their original cameras, the real analog photography still exists. My school has probably close to 80 projectors for the use of analog film students. Artists are still pursuing film-based photography for their masters degrees, teaching, careers and simply for hobbies.
I am confident that artists will not give up analog photography for digital or any other sort of photography.
