Is moving to Cali the best/only way to break into the movie business?

I graduated about a year ago with a BA in Media Arts with an emphasis in sound and I cannot for the life of me find something in my field. I currently work in sales and have been avidly applying for and interviewing for parttime gigs and audio related jobs but nothing like what I really want…to work in film. What else can I do?
*as a note I am not referring to acting*

well you’ll probably have to go there to talk to people
but you have to get noticed first.

hell there’s lots of movies filmed all over the US. try to become a extra. more you do, the more they’ll notice.

or become a theatre actor.

Hell Tommy Lee Jones doesnt even live in LA. he has a ranch in Texas (where he’s always lived) and commutes when needed.
