How can I tell someone who I’ve promised art lessons to that I’ve changed my mind?

I promised this before leaving the country for a month. Now that I’m back, I felt duty-bound to contact them about the lessons. Because they sounded eager to keep it up and b/c I had to keep my word, I ended up making an arrangement I’m not too keen on. I find it very difficult to say no, and I know I’m entirely responsible, but do let me know what you think, as I don’t think I can commit Thanks!

My paino teacher did this and I didn’t hear back from her. It was a tiny bit rude but I would have really appreciated her contacting me and saying “sorry my circumstances have changed I am unable to give lessons it was great working with you.” Or something.Then I would have been happy.
