Education in the arts helps to teach a sense of discipline and teach how discipline pays off. Students who are also involved in the arts and music generally get better grades on standardized tests and in their general coursework than students who are not. These students also derive a much more fulfilling sense from their lives and are more likely to go on to be productive members of society. That’s not to say that students NOT involved in the arts and music will not go on to be productive members of society, just that those that ARE involved are more likely to.
